historic site research

Research is the foundation for all historic site interpretation and planning. The historic structure report is a comprehensive property study that draws on historical documentation, physical investigation, paint and mortar analysis, and sometimes other disciplines. The HSR provides a clear description of the building’s architectural history – its original appearance, changes over time, and its present condition – as well as recommendations for preservation.
